Tax Installment Plan Offers Advantages, Savings Applications Due by May 1
CLEARWATER – Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson reminds residents of the upcoming May 1 deadline to enroll in the tax installment payment plan for 2010 property taxes. The installment plan breaks the annual property tax bill into four equal payments throughout the year and offers an annual discount of close to 3.5 percent on the total property tax bill.
"The installment payment plan can be a great way to manage the household budget by spreading the annual property tax payment into four payments," said Pinellas County Tax Collector Diane Nelson.
For households that do not have taxes held in escrow by a mortgage company, making smaller payments four times a year – June, September, December and March – is often more manageable than paying the entire property tax bill in one lump sum. Residents who are already on the installment plan are automatically re-enrolled every year and do not need to reapply.
Installment plan applications are available at www.taxcollect.com or at any Pinellas County Tax Collector office. Applications are due by May 1 and can be sent to the Pinellas County Tax Collector’s Office, P.O. Box 10834, Clearwater, FL 33757. To enroll in the plan, participants’ tax bill from 2009 must be more than $100.
